In our last issue of the WAVES Newsletter, we posed this question to all WAVES:
If you could ask Betty J. Eadie one question, what would it be?
Here is WAVE Amanda’s question, followed by Betty’s response.
A QUESTION FOR BETTY
By Amanda Titus
Much like Marcia said in answering last month’s question about choosing a favorite passage from Embraced by the Light, this too is a difficult question because there are so many questions that Betty could give such an insightful answer to. I was so intrigued by all that I learned from her at the Gathering in Chicago. As she would talk to us each day, I found myself mesmerized as my attention drifted from all of those who surrounded me and the commotion taking place outside of our meeting room. I focused so completely on the lessons that Betty offered, and the knowledge she shared soaked up inside of me as if I were a sponge.
I have learned so much from Betty over the years, beginning with the first time I read Embraced by the Light and continuing as I read each and every book that followed; being blessed with the opportunity to not only get to attend the Gathering in Chicago but to actually get to know a little bit of Betty personally; and finally through continuing to participate in WAVES. I feel that I have found much of what my heart desired to know through Betty’s books, her website and her presence.
I almost felt selfish at first when I decided to answer this month’s question, because I’ve had an opportunity to meet Betty, talk to her, share a part of myself with her and ask her questions about her experience. But then I realized that this was a very open question that never limited us to asking only about Embraced or about her experience in Heaven, so my question to Betty is:
How does it feel to know you have single handedly reached millions of people and brought the love of the Lord into their hearts and given so many hope during some of the darkest moments in their lives?
Dearest Amanda,
Thank you for your most loving question. When I wrote The Ripple Effect I included this passage in the Author’s Note section (page xv), which I feel speaks to your question well:
“Who am I, then, that the message I share touches so many lives? I don’t know, and I don’t worry about it as I used to. I am comfortable in the knowledge that I have a message to share, a message of Christ and his redeeming love. I know that for many God has used my light to guide them toward him. For that I am most humbled, and I accept that responsibility. The connections made are God given, God blessed. Some people he has prepared feel compelled to listen to my message; others do not. Some feel close to me, wanting to communicate and share their lives, and I rejoice in the oneness we experience. But I know that regardless of my reception, regardless of apparent success or failure, regardless of pain or sacrifice, I must share this message. I will create as many ripples within the family of mankind as God blesses me with. If it is His will, I will share His love until my voice is gone and my body stilled. And I invite everybody else who feels the call to do the same. It is the greatest gift we have to offer.”
I would like to add as well, that rarely does anyone accomplish anything worthwhile in this life single handedly, and my ability to reach others with Embraced by the Light has been made possible through the effort of countless individuals. The message of Embraced has made its way to millions of hearts, not only by the dedicated work of those who helped in the production, marketing and distribution of the book, but also by the generous love of each and every person who has passed it on to another.
With that said, it does feel awesome to be used by God to help those who are in need of hope. This is why it pleases me so much to witness the love that WAVES share so generously with each other and with others in need. I know that there is no greater joy on earth than to share our love with others, and nothing which is more pleasing to our Creator than to witness His children in loving service to one another.
Thank you again, Amanda, for your question. It was wonderful also to hear how much you enjoyed last year’s WAVES Gathering in Chicago. It was a pleasure and a joy meeting you there. I am greatly looking forward to our July Gathering of WAVES in Sacramento, now only two months away! I cannot wait to hug each and every WAVE in attendance! And for all WAVES who are unable to attend this year’s Gathering, I look forward to hopefully meeting you at a future event.
Loving all of you so much,
Betty
