...I knew that God had placed them there as warring angels...who believed in God and loved him enough
to give their lives to his service.

What It Means to be a WAVE
by Debbie Waithe
(Originally appeared as a post to the WAVES board on March 4, 2005)

Lately, it seems, people, many times strangers, speak to me of their fear of how the world is going to h-e-l-l in a handbasket. What with the tsunami, the war, the elections, the weather, and the news, everything and anything is fodder for complaining, depression, and fear. Don't get me wrong; all of these events are cause for concern, and prayer is absolutely warranted and necessary. However, we cannot let the impact of these events take us off our path as Warring Angel Volunteers on Earth. It is important that we stand strong, not only for ourselves but for the others that we are here to guide and assist. We, as WAVES, must constantly stand guard and protect the distracted ones who are on the inside of the group, looking out at individual events of devastation and not seeing the big picture. This task, this guardianship by WAVES, must be given freely, without reserve, and without arrogance and disdain for those that we are protecting in their ignorance of the brewing storm(s).

As in Betty's vision of the boat, where the WAVES stood surrounding those who were having a grand old time dancing and laughing, we too must surround our families, friends and, yes, strangers within the circle and stand fast against the impending tide of doom and gloom. We must shelter them from the turbulent times; with a word, a thought, or a kind deed, we must comfort them and give of our strength to help them through their fear. And we must never perpetuate fear; rather, we must stand straight and know that God, Jesus, and His many legions of angels are ready and waiting on our every need. For when the time comes, and it will, those innies will look to us outies, the WAVES, for our guidance and direction so that they will know that we will all persevere through God's love for His children. It is our task as WAVES to change fear to hope, one crisis at a time, calmly, humbly, peacefully, and always with unconditional love for all.
