Meditations with Jacy Windwhispers

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was already with God in the beginning. Everything came into existence through him. Not one thing that exists was made without him. He was the source of life, and that life was the light for humanity. The light shines in the dark, and the dark has never extinguished it.

The earth was barren, with no form of life; it was under a roaring ocean covered with darkness. But the Spirit of God was moving over the water.

God looked at what he had done. All of it was very good!

God, the Great Spirit, created everything. He is the Father of everything and everybody. We are all related, the rock people, the plant people, the winged nations (birds), the four-legged (animals), and the two-legged (humans). We all have the same Great Father. We are all brothers and sisters. We are all connected to each other in this journey on our Mother, the Earth.

We must take care of our brothers and sisters, whether they are of the two-legged variety, the four-legged variety, or of the plant variety. All of our Father’s creation must be treated with respect and love.

Adam was put in the Garden "to dress it and to keep it", as told in Genesis 2:15. "To dress" is translated as the Hebrew word "aw-bad`", meaning to serve, to be in bond-service to, to be a worshipper. The Creator loves His Creation. He wants us to love His Creation with the same love He has for it (remembering that we are His Creation, too!). As He came to Earth to serve, not to be served, so we are to serve the Creator and His Creation. To be a "bond-servant" means to serve out of our love to our Lord and Master. We are to be a "worshipper". Creation is our temple in which we worship our Creator.

"To keep" is the Hebrew word "shaw-mar`", meaning to guard, to defend, to save, to preserve, to protect (the same way thorns protect a rose). Yes, we are here to guard, defend, preserve, save, and protect that which the Creator has put in our care. It has been a long time since Adam was in the Garden, but the reason we are here hasn’t changed.

Some say we are to "have dominion" over the Earth, giving them free license to destroy, pollute, and kill the Creation. "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Genesis 1:26 KJV) To "have dominion" actually means "to rule and reign" as Christ (the Creator) rules and reigns over us and gave His life for us. He is not a harsh, unloving ruler. He rules out of His great and eternal love for us, His Creation!

An interesting fact about Adam (the first man) is that the word means "man" or "human". It comes from the Hebrew root "a-d-m", meaning "red", from which also comes the word "a-da-mah", which means "Earth". So Adam, the first human male, was molded by the Creator from the red clay of Earth. Adam was a "red-man".

And God saw everything He created and said, "It is very good". Our Great Creator, we thank you that by Your love You created us. Help us love and protect all of Your Creation.
