August 31, 2004
Well, it seems we're entering a season of change. Mothers are busy preparing their children to return to school. Older students are preparing to return to college. Summer is turning to fall. The Olympics are over. I saw a young girl with blond pigtails streak past me today at the grocer’s with her roller tennis shoes. Definitely, an Olympic Gold hopeful of the future. I've been busy watching hummingbirds flirt with a flowering vine that climbs our house in the 100-degree heat. The flowers resemble orange bugles. I harvested some seed pods from the orange flowering vine today to send to my sister, who is busy moving to Florida from Chicago. This vine will grow well in Florida.
The WAVES Gathering is over now.
Well, the world is changing and so are things here at the WAVES Newsletter. Change is good, they say, and in this case I agree. Without further ado, I'd like to introduce our New WAVES Newsletter Editor, Jim Fly. Jim is a veteran WAVE, and he can boast that everyone in his entire immediate family is a WAVE. Other than Betty Eadie, this is the only WAVE family I know of currently. However, I'm certain there are others -- they just need to show themselves. Jim works as a professional Web Developer with American Girl doll company. He is also responsible for the newest layout of our newsletter.
Why the change, you may ask? Well, although I've enjoyed being a part of developing the WAVES Newsletter, it's a big job. As some of you may know I have an eleven-year-old who is entering middle school this year. Middle school is a big transition for school children. I need to be available to him this year. However I hope to continue to contribute to the newsletter to a lesser degree, if at all possible.
So, what else is new? The Chicago Gathering saw many WAVES sharing their stories in an open and loving fashion that brought us all closer in spirit. We wanted to keep this powerful dialogue going and give the rest of our WAVES friends the opportunity to tell their stories, too. So in the spirit of Chicago this issue sees the debut of a new section, “Getting To Know You”, which will feature biographies of individual WAVES. Why wait till the next Gathering? Sharpen your pencils and get those skeletons out of the closet (just kidding!) – we want to know all about you and how you came to WAVES!
I hope you all will take a moment to welcome Jim to our Newsletter as Editor. I know he would really appreciate a message from you, so please drop him a line. Most important, please send your articles, book and movie reviews, and Gathering Reports to Jim at our new Waves Newsletter email address: wavesnewsletter@embracedbythelight.com.
And as always, Ripple On!
Much love,
Sharon
