MESSAGE FROM PLANNING COMMITTEE

The 4th Annual WAVES Gathering is sure to be a fun, spiritually uplifting and memorable event for all who attend! This very special weekend will include both formal and informal gatherings with WAVES founder, Betty J. Eadie. There will be many opportunities to socialize, meet new friends, and share our love and experiences as a family of WAVES volunteers. It's important to make your event ticket purchases and hotel reservations early. WAVES will pay their own travel, hotel accommodations and meals. Please consider booking your airfare ASAP, as all indications are that the airline industry will be increasing fares very soon.

TRANSPORTATION

Airport
Boston's Logan Airport is only 6 miles or 10 minutes (drive time) from our hotel during normal traffic hours. When booking your airfare to Logan, try to avoid weekday morning and evening commuting hours to avoid traveling to and from the airport during peak traffic times. More airport information may be found here.

Ground Transportation
The Doubletree Guest Suites Boston does not provide airport shuttle service. Taxi service to the hotel from the airport is $30, or the hotel recommends Candiani Trans. for Airport shuttle service. Candiani Trans. may be reached at 617-438-3684. They charge $20.00 per person, and a group discount is available. There are additional 'Shared Van' companies mentioned here on Logan's website.

Car Rental
Before renting a car for the weekend, please familiarize yourself further below with our hotel's parking costs ($5 per day, $20 overnight). If you are still interested in renting a car from the airport, here is rental car info for Logan Airport.

HOTEL INFORMATION

Amenities
The Doubletree Guest Suites Boston is a full-service, all-suite hotel beside the scenic Charles River at Boston's gateway just off I-90 (Mass Turnpike). The hotel overlooks the Boston and Cambridge skylines. The hotel was visited by a member of our planning team to ensure WAVES would be pleased with the accommodations and the hotel we carefully selected for our event.

  • 10 minutes from Logan International Airport
  • 2 restaurants: The Boathouse Grille is open from 6:30am-10pm, serving American dishes and New England seafood. In the evenings, the Terrace Lounge opens at 4:30pm, serving affordable, lighter fare.
  • Indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and whirlpool
  • Comfortable suites with views of the Charles River
  • Chocolate chip cookies upon check-in!

Room Reservations
We have blocked a group of 16 sleeping-room suites at our hotel for the WAVES Gathering. EVERY suite in our block of rooms comes equipped with a KING sized bed in its own bedroom with TV, and a dividing door leads to a living room with a Queen-sized pull out sofa bed, chairs and its own TV as well. There are views of the Charles River from every suite in our block!

The suites in our block are large enough to room comfortably with others. Those who feel comfortable doing so may choose to share a room with others to save on costs. Each suite comes equipped with a refrigerator, coffeemaker, a living area with ample seating and many other amenities to make your WAVES Gathering weekend enjoyable.

The rate for each suite in our block of rooms is $149 per night (plus 12.45% fees + tax) if you have one or two people in your suite, $159 for three people to stay together, and $169 for four people. (So, costs for 2 individuals to share a suite, including tax, would be $84 each per night; for 3 individuals, $60 each per night; and for 4 individuals, $48 per night!) When making reservations, you must mention "WAVES" to receive one of the spacious suites in our group block and for our group to receive credit for every room reserved by WAVES.

PLEASE NOTE: While this hotel does offer a handful of less expensive standard, non-suite rooms requiring pre-payment, these rooms are NOT the same as the suites in our group's block and do not have the same amenities or spaciousness/bedding/comfort of the suites we reserved for WAVES. The Planning team humbly requests WAVES please overlook any less expensive rooms that may be advertised on the hotel's website. (Yes, we did just say that.) This is because if WAVES members select any rooms other than those reserved in our group-block, we will likely not fill all the 16 suites we have reserved, and then (according to our contract with the hotel) we would owe the hotel $149 for each unused room night in each unreserved suite in our block. So,PLEASE, book the suites we reserved and share the costs by selecting roommates to enjoy the weekend with so we can easily fulfill our financial obligation to the hotel.

We are confident that you'll agree upon arrival that the suites in our group block are an excellent value for Boston in July and are a far superior value to any other room that may be offered at a lower price. Our block of suites is only available at our group rate until June 20th (at which point the hotel takes back any unreserved suites in our block to sell to the general public and the prices for them will go way up). So coordinate your roommates now and reserve your suite today, as the 16 WAVES suites will fill quickly. We expect to have 50+ WAVES attendees this year.

Staying at the hotel where the entire Gathering and Public Speaking Event is taking place has always been a favorite aspect of the Gathering for WAVES. Rooming, hanging out and dining together are part of the enjoyment of the Gathering. It is for this reason that our planning team blocked the suites in advance for WAVES -- to add to everyone's enjoyment of the weekend. We ask that, due to this effort on our part and our financial obligation to the hotel, that WAVES please fill these blocked suites first before considering any alternative accommodations. The WAVES message board is the ideal place for coordinating with others to room together.

To avoid a cancellation fee or no-show fee of one night's charges, individual reservations that are not needed must be cancelled by 3pm on the day prior to arrival.

Parking Fees
WAVES receive a discounted parking rate of $5 per day, $20 per evening for overnight parking (see the hotel's front desk). Due to the cost of parking overnight, you may want to carpool with others to the Gathering or use public transportation.

Hotel Shuttle
For your convenience, The Doubletree Guest Suites Boston offers a complimentary shuttle service that departs (and picks up) at regularly scheduled intervals to some popular downtown locations such as Copley Square, Boston Common, the Aquarium and Quincy Market.
