Can't Afford to Prepare?
If you feel you can't financially afford to
prepare, many WAVES understand exactly what you are saying! The 72
Hour (3 Day) Kit list is ambitious and, if bought at normal retail
value, fairly pricey. But here is what Betty has to say:
The quickest way to put together a 72 hour kit RIGHT
NOW is to stand in your home, as it is with what you already have.
Pretend that an announcement is made that you have only an hour to
evacuate your home and that you will not be able to return to it for
three days - and that in those three days you are on your own! Okay.
Go!
Looking at it this way I know that you will find
everything you need to help yourself to survive! There is NO reason
what so ever NOT to be prepared while you are preparing in greater
style, if that is what is putting you off. Let's make this happen in
each of our lives. ...Think about what it will take you to live.
Once you have the basics, also include keepsake items.
Do this without fear. Take control of your life and the lives of your
families!
God Bless you!

Shoestring Preparation - Yes You Can
With a few dollars, you can get a few gallons of water (1 gallon
or 4 litres per person per day), and simply rotate the water out every
few months and refill with tap water - presto, emergency water!
WAVES have reported finding backpacks at thrift shops for a
couple dollars. Mylar emergency blankets cost only a couple
dollars.
Have another couple dollars? Buy a few extra cans of food. Or
just check your cabinets for cans of food already in there! As one
WAVE put it, "God is so good. I didn't think I could do it either, but
I made the start, I opened the cabinets, then God took over and
helped.... Get something going, and pray, and watch God do His
thing."
Put aside whatever you can afford, even if just a few cents,
whenever you can, into an emergency cash stash.
Give copies of emergency contact information and vital documents
to family right now! Attach information to any pet carriers you have for your
pets. These are things you can do already.
