When my angel guide saw my escort, her eyes grew wide with surprise and excitement. "I can't believe he came himself to take you to earth," she kept saying over and over again as she led me toward him. But she never spoke his name. As I took in his magnificence, I was in awe. He was much taller than even my angel guide. His face was angular, his haw square and set, and his eyes were confident and kind.
The two angels spoke with one another for a while, and then the escort looked down at me and asked in a firm but kind voice, "Are you ready to go?"
The sound of his voice soothed and reassured me, and I said, "Yes."
Immediately, another door appeared in the wall, revealing nothing but blue sky. I walked to it and looked down. i could see the top of a thunder cloud about half a mile below us.
"We must go at once, " the tall angel said. He took hold of my left wrist, and we sailed through the open door to the sound and energy of the same mighty, rushing wind I'd heard at his arrival. I turned to look back at the angel guide of whom I had grown so fond. She waved and smiled with the same knowing expression.
I also saw part of the outside of Heaven as I looked back. The walls were covered with layers of pure gold, and a brilliant light shone from the door through which we had come. As we departed, I watched the door vanish, and Heaven itself gradually became transparent unitl it completely disappeared.
I felt a certain excitement for this venture, but I was also beginning to feel a sense of separation. I knew I must go—I wanted to go—yet I already missed the warm light of Heaven and the calming love and influence of my angel guide. We descended rapidly, headfirst, and there was nothing but open sky. And though it was thrilling to sail through the air, when I could no longer see Heaven, my home, I felt some concern.
I was filled with mixed emotions as we approached earth. I felt sad that I was leaving everything behind: the peace, joy, and beauty of the only place I had ever known. But what I had learned about earth in the Life Books excited me, and I was eager to come and experience firsthand what life here was really like. I looked forward to it like a great adventure, where I would add understanding to the knowledge I had already grown into as a spiritual being. I knew that my knowledge would be tested, and that I could grow in my understanding and become a greater spirit for God. In Heaven I had a full measure of happiness: my friends, and the angels, and many special abilities of the spirit that had not been given to men in the flesh. It would be difficult to be separated from these pure, heavenly things and accept life on earth, which would often times be hard and filled with many challenges.
But the love I felt from the tall angel at my side encouraged me. And when he saw my worry, he said, "Look straight ahead and don't look back." I moved close to him and fixed my eyes ahead.
