Nancy K. Schriefer

Nancy K. Schriefer
is a marketing executive in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1989 her daughter,
Kristen, died from the effects of chronic lung disease a few weeks short
of her 20th birthday. Nancy wrote Until Forever based on
inspirations she experienced after the death of her daughter.
"After Kristin
died," Nancy shares, "an amazing thing happened. For probably
five years previous, we'd had trouble with our garage door opener. It
opened the door just fine, but the light wouldn't come on. We'd changed
the bulb and nothing happened; scraped the contacts and still nothing.
My husband ultimately took the whole assembly apart, but the light just
would not work. Finally we gave up. But when we came home from the hospital
on the night our daughter died, my husband hit the button on the remote,
and as the door went up, the garage was bathed in light. We looked at
each other and I said, 'She's still with us.' I'm convinced that Kristin
was letting us know that her spirit continued and that she was now breathing
easily in God's house.
Somehow the message seemed appropriate since she was the light of our
lives. The light in our garage never came on again after that night.
"I
wrote Until Forever because I wanted to share with others
my belief that the spirit never dies. I hope those who have also suffered
a loss might find comfort in the story. Many people experience after-death
communications from departed loved ones, dreams, sensing a presence, hearing
voices, actually seeing someone, or just plain unexplainable occurrences.
I consider these events spiritual gifts."
